Backup & Disaster Recovery Lincolnshire

Backups that actually restore — tested every quarter, not just left running.

Overview

What we deliver

A backup you've never tested isn't a backup, it's a hope. Every Lincolnshire business we look after gets servers, laptops and Microsoft 365 backed up to encrypted, off-site storage, with restores tested on a regular schedule so you know it works before you ever need it.

What's included

Built for Lincolnshire businesses

Server & endpoint backup

Image-level backup of physical and virtual servers, plus optional laptop backup for staff working from home or on the road.

Microsoft 365 backup

Mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams backed up daily. Microsoft doesn't do this for you — and yes, that surprises people.

Tested restores

We test a restore from your backups every quarter and send you a short report so you can prove it to auditors and insurers.

Disaster recovery planning

A written DR plan, agreed RTO/RPO targets, and a documented runbook so anyone can follow it if the worst happens.

Who it's for

The businesses we do this best for

Anyone still running a single on-prem server

One box, one power supply, one bad day. We layer in local + cloud + immutable so a single failure never becomes a business event.

Microsoft 365-only businesses

You moved off servers to be safe — but 365 is a service, not a backup. We fill the gap Microsoft explicitly doesn't.

Regulated / audited firms

BRCGS, ISO 27001, insurers and clients all now want to see tested restores. We give you the evidence, not just a green light on a dashboard.

Signs you need this

If any of these sound familiar, get in touch.

  • Nobody's tested restoring a file this quarter
  • Backups live on a USB drive next to the server
  • There's no offline / immutable copy
  • You have no idea how long it would take to recover the whole business
  • Ex-employee mailboxes have been deleted and someone now wants an email from three years ago
  • Your insurer has started asking about backup separation

How it works

A calm, documented process — no surprises.

  1. 1. What matters

Sit down and agree what actually has to be back, and how quickly — RTO and RPO in plain English, not a template document.

  2. 2. Layered backup

Local snapshots for speed, cloud for offsite, immutable copies that ransomware can't touch. Microsoft 365 backup on top.

  3. 3. Test, don't hope

Quarterly restore drills — a real file, a real mailbox, a real VM. Short written report goes to you and, if needed, your auditor.

  4. 4. DR runbook

One document, plain English, so anyone in the business can trigger recovery on the worst day — not just the one person who set it up.

Real-world example

The ransomware Monday

A Lincolnshire client rang us at 06:40 on a Monday — every file share was encrypted. Because immutable cloud snapshots existed, the attackers couldn't touch them. By 11:00 we'd rebuilt clean VMs, restored the latest good snapshot, and had staff back on their emails. Total data loss: less than an hour. Total downtime: half a working day. Insurer very happy.

FAQ

Common questions

Doesn't Microsoft back up our 365 data?+

No, not in the way most people assume. Microsoft guarantees the service, not your data — if a user deletes something and it ages out of the retention bin, it's gone. That's why we run a separate 365 backup.

How quickly could we recover from ransomware?+

For most clients we target a recovery time of under four hours for critical systems, using immutable off-site backups that the attackers can't reach.

Do you keep backups in the UK?+

Yes — all of our backup storage is UK-based, which keeps things simple for GDPR and any public-sector work.

What's immutable backup?+

A snapshot that, once written, literally cannot be changed or deleted for a set period — not even by an admin. It's the single most important defence against ransomware.

Do you back up laptops as well as servers?+

Optional — a lot of clients only back up documents from OneDrive on laptops. Where laptops hold local files (design, engineering, video), we add endpoint backup.

Do we get proof it's working?+

Yes — a quarterly test-restore report, and monthly backup success stats. If a job fails twice in a row you'll know before we do.
